A little bit about EFT...
EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is an approach that can help us rediscover our natural state of wellness, peace, clarity, health and happiness, in a gentle, effective way. Releasing any blocks to this, any patterns, layers or fears that have created limiting beliefs, behaviours, emotional and physical pain, and releasing emotional charges in energies around memories of certain events/situations that may have stayed with us for many years, and so restoring balance, harmony and flow.
Painful emotional energies, daily stresses and strains can be stored in our body, held in certain areas, especially when suppressed, squashed down, hidden and not faced, and over time these energies can become dense, almost solidifying around areas inside us, stopping our natural, healthy life-force (Chi) flow and causing physical pain and chronic illness.
These energies can be felt, acknowledged, moved, cleared, dissolved... & ultimately they can be witnessed from a deeper space and flow freely - there is nowhere for them to 'stick'.
Based on the 5000 year old Traditional Chinese Medicine of the flow of energies around the body, through channels, or meridians, (recognising we are all energetic beings!) EFT works by tapping on the end points (acupoints) of these meridians, clearing blocks or disruptions. It's very like acupuncture, but without the needles. Whilst tapping, 'reminder phrases' are spoken and the intensity rating of the pain or emotional charge is noted before and after. Throughout the procedure healing hormones are released, calming and soothing the body and activating the body's own self-repair mechanisms.
We tap to nurture the body and as a consequence healing follows.
It might look/feel a little bizarre to you at first! (as it absolutely did to me :)) but soon it becomes second nature, especially as positive results can be experienced very quickly.
It can be done anywhere, by anyone - it works for all ages and needs no special equipment.
... and best of all
EFT is a somatic practice which stimulates your body into healing itself, emotionally and physically, and my approach is about always recognising your natural state of wellbeing and wholeness throughout.
Holding this beautiful, essential truth of your health and wholeness for yourself is so refreshing and healing, whilst also honouring and helping with whatever difficulties, pains and illnesses you may be currently experiencing in your life.
We can take responsibility for our own happiness and wellbeing, no-matter the situation or what anyone else is or isn't doing - & this is empowering and liberating.

Releasing at a cellular level
When old energies and traumas are released at a cellular level, space is opened up for all that is light and new – and this is so powerful! When fears are released, we remain as our natural state, one of love. Fear and anxiety can keep us in a constricted, small, painful place, feeling shut down and these painful emotions can be the cause of many stresses, illnesses and chronic ill-health in our lives.
EFT is not concerned with the psychological 'thinking' or 'ego' mind and goes straight to the heart of the matter, to witnessing and being present with what is happening within the body. The sympathetic nervous system often tells us much more honestly and accurately when something is 'off' or wrong.
Our bodies alert us and the more we listen, without labelling and judgement, the clearer, healthier, happier and more self-compassionate we can be.
I love how EFT, in my own approach, works alongside the Vedantic tradition and other spiritual teachings, honouring both our human expression and the Source/Divine/Pure Consciousness. (Please note - you do not need to follow a spiritual path for EFT to be effective! I tailor sessions that will will work for you and each person's will be different.)
'We are not a body with a soul, but a soul with a body'... The body is our miraculous form in this lifetime and can help point us to the deeper truth of who we really are...
Eckhart Tolle describes the pain body as 'the human tendency to perpetuate old emotion' which accumulates as a negative energy field that occupies our body and ego mind. 'Any negative emotion not fully faced and seen for what it is in the moment becomes a remnant of pain we carry with us throughout our lives.'
Being present and connected to the inner body takes us deeper into conscious awareness. From this deeper space transformation happens.
... and the best way to experience the effectiveness of EFT is to try it and see!
'I thoroughly enjoyed the hour we spent together. Thank you. Delight is always more delightful when unexpected!
I yawned for the rest of the afternoon and my late afternoon walk found me tapping surreptitiously as I briskly hiked and I can still feel the energy circulating when I turn my attention inward ... And I am intrigued by the practice. I am trying to include more therapies such as this in my self-care tool box.'
